Passenger numbers through Dubai International Airport rose 14 per cent to over 4. 8 million year on year in January, helped by Emirates Airlines’ fast expansion, but cargo continued to suffer amid global uncertainty, falling 2.6 per cent in the same period.
Saudi Cargo, DHL to launch Europe-Dubai route
Saudi Airlines Cargo will commence thrice-weekly freight service to Al Maktoum International Airport at Dubai World Central in March. The new service is part of Saudi’s global part charter initiative with DHL Global Forwarding and allows it to directly link Europe to the United Arab Emirates.

Gulf Air to show live Premier League football
Gulf Air will be the first carrier to offer a new in-flight cable channel that will enable passengers to watch live coverage of sporting events such as Premier League football and the Olympics. According to a press statement by media company IMG, the Bahrain-based carrier is now offering a new premium 24-hour sports channel – SPORT 24 – that has been launched via a partnership between IMG and Panasonic.
Asscom Middle East expand facility in Dubai Airport Freezone

Flydubai launches service to its 50th destination
Low-cost airline flydubai has announced that it has started flights to its 50th destination in less than three years since launching operations in 2009. The carrier reached the half century mark when its inaugural flight to Bishek in the Kyrgyz Republic landed at Bishkek International Airport this morning.
