Gulf Air to show live Premier League football
Gulf Air will be the first carrier to offer a new in-flight cable channel that will enable passengers to watch live coverage of sporting events such as Premier League football and the Olympics. According to a press statement by media company IMG, the Bahrain-based carrier is now offering a new premium 24-hour sports channel – SPORT 24 – that has been launched via a partnership between IMG and Panasonic.

Boeing presents Current Market Outlook at the 2011 Dubai Air Show
Boeing forecasts that airlines in the Middle East will need an estimated 2,520 airplanes worth $450bn by 2030. The forecast comes as the region’s carriers continue to surpass global air traffic and capacity growth rates. Boeing estimates that the Middle East’s fleet of passenger airplanes will grow from a current fleet of 1,040 airplanes to a projected 2,710 airplanes, an increase of 160%.

Flydubai launches new car rental service
Flydubai, Dubai’s low cost airline, is launching its new car rental service allowing passengers to book a vehicle and then drive away for less anywhere in the world. Dubai Airports announced that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and the Ruler of Dubai, has endorsed its $7.8bn (Dhs28.8bn) airport and airspace expansion programme which will boost capacity at Dubai International from 60 million to 90 million passengers per year by 2018.
