Passenger terminal to be ready by early 2012
Dubai’s new Al Maktoum International Airport is expected to open its passenger terminal early next year, according to Khalifa Al Zaffin, the executive chairman of Dubai World Central, or DWC. An investment of around Dh4 billion is expected to be made for Al Maktoum Airport and Dh26 billion for the expansion of Dubai International Airport by 2020, Al Zaffin told reporters on Sunday.

Emirates A380 superjumbo diverted to Hyderabad airport
Emirates was forced to diverted an Airbus A380 to the Indian city of Hyderabad after pilots encountered a technical malfunction, it has been reported. Pilots had initially requested to land at Chennai airport, but the runway was too busy and clearance was therefore not received.

Dubai Air Show to draw 55,000 spectators
The 2011 show will almost certainly be the last at Dubai airport. It is getting too big for the site and is to move to Al-Maktoum International Airport at Jebel Ali. The size of Chicago’s O’Hare and London Heathrow put together, making it the world’s fourth largest in area, the new airport opened for cargo flights last year.
Emirates airline partners with WestJet
After years of having its expansion plans shunned by Ottawa, Emirates airline said Thursday it would forge a new partnership with WestJet Airlines Ltd. to help expand its reach across Canada.
